Job Posting: Assembler
Shifts: Swing shift, Monday-Thursday 2:30PM-1:00AM
Responsible for producing products and components by assembling parts and subassemblies. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying applicable manufacturing documentation, assembly work instructions, and/or visual demonstration.
Essential Functions
- Perform various steps to complete assembly process which includes but is not limited to placing components into subassemblies, applying lock tite into pins, driving screws into pins.
- Typically assigned to build on the first two positions of multi-person assembly lines.
- Operate various assembly machines and or hand tools during the assembly process.
- Check and adjust torque of components and handles in sub-assemblies and finished tools.
- Inspect components for cosmetic, dimensional, functional defects and accuracy.
- Apply correction process steps to misassembled products.
- May participate in department cross-training.
- Act as a resource for engineering when needed.
Experience and Education:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Some experience in manufacturing environment or completion of a manufacturing foundations class preferred however we can teach you if your willing to learn.
- Basic Math/Arithmetic Skills, including addition and subtraction or willingness to learn and become proficient required.
- Basic computer skills preferred. Willingness to learn and become proficient required.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write English at a level to effectively utilize and interpret SDS’s and work instructions, or the ability to understand this information when translated.
- Demonstrated skill in meeting standard work build rate will be required after training.
Physical Demands/ Working Conditions/Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; balance; use hands to finger, handle, grasp, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, some overhead. The employee is occasionally may be required to lift to 50 lbs.; sit; climb; twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a production environment with regular exposure to noise, liquid grinding coolant mist, and vapor, dust, and lubricants managed through an exhaust system. The work area is well lit and air-conditioned.
