Position Summary

Works with other Die Makers and Die Maintenance personnel while fabricating, maintaining, and repairing precision metal stamping tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Works under minimal supervision while performing daily work. Supports the Tool & Die CI team with business objectives and goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth (SQDC&G).

Essential Functions

  • Build new dies as needed.
  • Maintain and repair progressive, fineblank, coining, and all other metal stamping tooling used in production.
  • Ability to work both on the bench and in the press.
  • Understand production measurements as they relate to part prints.
  • Adjust production tooling, as needed, to keep things running smoothly.
  • Document and submit all tooling changes that are made.
  • Maintain and recommend spare component inventory levels.
  • Certification in handling equipment used in the department, such as cranes, forklifts, and die carts.
  • Participate in Die Design reviews.
  • Inspection, measurement, and verification of components produced by the Machine Shop.
  • Inspection, measurement, and verification of stamped parts.
  • Operate one type of press and related auxiliary press equipment while troubleshooting or trying out tooling.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain clean and organized work areas.

Additional Functions

  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Access models and drawings in the CAD system for dimension and assembly reference.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Die Maker Journeyman status preferred.
  • Die Build, maintenance and repair of either progressive, fineblank, and/or coining tooling required. Typically between 0 – 5 years.
  • Proven operation of manual machine shop and precision measurement equipment required.
  • Knowledge of GD&T required.
  • Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, and teamwork.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit; use hands to handle, grasp, or keyboard; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee occasionally stands or walks; climbs; stoops or crouches; and pushes/pulls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs. The employee frequently pushes/pulls an average of 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Working Conditions/Physical Hazards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment, and occasionally exposed to production environment. Work area is well lit and air conditioned. All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.
