What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forester position at Leatherstocking Timber Products Inc.?
Essential job functions include but are not limited to:
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to gather data on forest conditions
- Develop and implement forest management plans
- Monitor and evaluate the health and growth of trees
- Identify and assess potential risks to forest health, such as pests or disease
- Coordinate with landowners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices
- Supervise and lead teams of forestry technicians or other staff members
- Utilize GIS and other technology to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on advancements in forestry practices
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GIS software for mapping and analysis
- Certification as a Forester or similar professional designation
- Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and ecosystems
