QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to work cooperatively with school personnel
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities (E2 license given preference.)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation.
REPORTS TO:
Supervisor of Facilities and Custodial Services
JOB GOAL:
To help maintain the facilities of the Lebanon Board of Education so that full educational use may be made at all times.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Shovels, plows, and or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
- Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Facilities Supervisor.
- Maintains on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
- Reports immediately to the principal and/or Facilities Supervisor any damage to school property.
- Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand, and requisitions such needed replacements from the Facilities Supervisor far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the maintenance worker in his duties.
- Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
- Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to insure their safe condition.
- Orders materials as needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase to the maintenance supervisor.
- Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of flooring, door frames, doors, window frames, staircases, stair treads, wall paneling, ceiling paneling, hardware, and similar structural elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
- Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, air conditioning and refrigeration units, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
- Performs and/or assists the installation and operation of all lighting and electrical sound equipment in auditoriums and gymnasiums for all special theatrical, athletic, or other performance events.
- Examines district owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of recommending preventive maintenance.
- Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
- General field maintenance, preparation, and event support.

- Must be mobile, able to push/pull objects of more than fifty (50) pounds and lift objects of more than twenty (20) pounds, stand or sit for prolonged periods, and be able to perform simple motor skills such as climbing a ladder
- Able to perform manipulative skills which require hand-eye coordination, such as nailing, basic plumbing, and basic electrical tasks
- Able to perform tasks that require hand-arm steadiness such as operating power equipment
- Must be able to see objects far away as in driving and be able to see objects closely as in reading a document or report
- Able to discriminate colors as in wires or warning lights
- Able to hear normal sounds with some background noise, distinguish voice patterns and communicate through human speech, as in communicating via 2-way radio or the telephone
- Able to concentrate on minimal to moderate detail with some interruption
- Able to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption and attend to tasks and functions for more than 60 minutes at a time
- May be exposed to fluctuating temperatures, seasonal outdoor weather, grease, oil, and odors, loud or unpleasant noises, high humidity, wetness, open flames and other heat sources
- Possible exposure to dust and hazardous materials such as chemicals, toxins, cytotoxins, paints, and other poisonous substances
- Possible contact with poison ivy, bees, wasps, and other naturally occurring hazards
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month year. Hourly rate and work year to be established by the Board. Salary based on experience, range between $22-$26/hr
