Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Schools/Director of Technology

Classification: Classified / Non-Exempt


Summary

The Data Specialist is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting district data to support decision-making, compliance, and community engagement. This role requires expertise in Infinite Campus, ad-hoc reporting tools, and data analysis software to aggregate, analyze, and disaggregate student data. The specialist collaborates with administrators, faculty, and IT staff to provide actionable insights and ensure accurate data reporting to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

  • Utilizes Infinite Campus to compile and disseminate data.
  • Experience extracting data and using ad-hoc reporting tools from SIS applications.
  • Utilizes and supports data warehouse and analysis software to aggregate, analyze and disaggregate student data.
  • Provides data reports for administrators and faculty as requested to support data analysis and action research in the district.
  • Collaborates with information technology staff in support and administration of the software used for data analysis and assessment.
  • Assists in communicating findings of data analysis with the community and parents through reports.
  • Responsible for the collection, compilation, and input of descriptive statistics for the Lebanon Public Schools, in collaboration with building and district-level personnel responsible for reporting data.
  • Meet all deadlines for input of data in the web-based data collection system for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Analyze district data for potential errors prior to entry into the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Core Data System, in collaboration with building and district level personnel responsible for reporting data.
  • Alert appropriate administrator(s) of data findings that may adversely affect the district APR.
  • Attend training/workshops related to Core Data, Infinite Campus, and Tableau.
  • Respond to edits provided via the web and/or through state reports in collaboration with building and district level personnel responsible for reporting data.
  • Provide annual training to administrators and other building and district-level personnel regarding data collection.
  • Support Infinite Campus in the absence of the district’s student information coordinator/technology specialist.
  • Prepare and distribute various types of correspondence and reports as needed.
  • Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Certificates

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience with student information systems, assessment software and data analysis software is helpful.


Skills and Abilities

Language

Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and manuals. Ability to speak effectively before administration, staff, parents and students. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.


Computation

Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and to communicate clearly to administrators and teachers. Ability to compile, summarize and disaggregate data using various software applications and other tools. Ability to apply inferences from statistical data to educational practice.


Reasoning

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.


Technology

Must have excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and internet. Must have the ability to learn new systems and software with instruction.

While performing the duties of this position an employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time; also, occasional walking is required as in a general office setting. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach, bend, and lift or carry up to 30 pounds. The employee must have the ability to hear conversation both in person and via telephone in a general office setting. Prolonged computer use required.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively and confidently as a representative of the school district.

Lifting

Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds.
