Full Job Description
Lectronic’s Inc. of Clinton, Iowa is a three-generation family-owned Electronics and Communication business who is seeking a Commercial Two-Way Radio Technician covering multiple counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. This position requires knowledge of repair and installation of various types of commercial radio equipment used in public safety and industry. Basic computers skills a must. The preferred candidate will have experience and/or training in radio communications and/or graduate of a technical, associates, or bachelors program. The successful candidate should also be self-motivated, team oriented, and committed to supporting public safety personnel and industry. Examples of tasks and duties include installing, repairing, and maintaining the following types of equipment:
- VHF and UHF commercial radios;
- Transmission lines;
- RF antennas;
- Duplexers, filters and suppression devices;
- Grounding systems and components;
- Console and related equipment in 911 call centers.
Typical and preferred skills, abilities, knowledge, and qualifications include the following:
- Degree in electronics or communications
- Knowledge of RF theory and practical applications;
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in RF, power and signaling;
- Knowledge of AC/DC power systems;
- Knowledge of radio communications;
- Basic to advanced understanding of how 911 call centers and remote radio operator positions work;
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams;;
- Program end user radio equipment as well as site radios and ancillary equipment;
- Professional communication and organizational skills;
- Must be able to work alone and as part of a team;
- Ability to properly use many types of basic to advanced test equipment including the following:
- Digital Multi Meters
- Watt Meters
- Service monitors
- Spectrum analyzers
- Oscilloscopes
OTHER REQUREMENTS:
- Risks found in the field environment will include: working and driving in adverse weather conditions, working long hours in times of emergency, lifting heavy objects, ability to climb towers and ladders up to 25 feet in height.
- Being on-call.
- Be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
