Responsibilities of the Construction Estimator
- Use pricing program to create detailed, accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements
- Contact vendors to verify material specifications and costs
- Collaborate with project managers, in-house designers, and purchasing department; advise team of specification changes as needed
- Maintain an up-to-date material cost database
- Identify and clearly communicate potential risks related to budget, timelines, and project scope
