Position: Controller
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Controller to oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role will manage day-to-day accounting operations, prepare monthly financial statements, and lead process improvements. Reporting to the President, the Controller will also supervise a team of four and collaborate across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce internal control guidelines and accounting SOPs.
- Oversee the monthly financial close and preparation of accrual-based statements.
- Supervise and mentor a four-person accounting team.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and monthly financial variances.
- Maintain strong working relationships with operational teams.
- Coordinate with external tax accountants for tax compliance.
- Ensure financial records meet internal and regulatory standards.
- Support budgeting and forecasting through cross-department collaboration.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Appfolio, and MS Office.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with team leadership and collaborative skills.
