Ledgent is currently working with a firm in West Denver seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with at least two years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction, architecture, or engineering industries. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial transactions, supporting month-end close processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, familiarity with industry-specific accounting practices, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Maintain job cost accounting records and track project-related financial transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support financial planning.
- Work closely with project managers and finance teams to ensure proper job costing and expense tracking.
- Support audit and tax preparation by gathering necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, architecture, or engineering industries.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Deltek, or Viewpoint).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and industry-specific accounting practices such as job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and contract accounting.
- Familiarity with AIA billing and lien waivers.
- CPA or working toward certification is a plus.

Salary : $55,000 - $72,500
