Position Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Network Engineering to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of innovative, scalable, and secure network solutions for global cloud services. This role involves overseeing complex projects, managing a team, and ensuring high availability and performance across our global network infrastructure. In this role, you will serve as both a leader and a hands-on contributor, guiding the team responsible for building and maintaining the fiber infrastructure-both inside and outside plants-across our data center campuses. Additionally, you will lead a team in defining the architecture for the internal IoT, BMS, and EPMS networks. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in either inside or outside fiber plant design, along with working knowledge of the other.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and implementation of inside and outside fiber plant infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.
- Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, and project management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Develop and mentor engineering talent.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in inside and outside fiber plant design, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber plants.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, GIS, and facility management software.
- Knowledge of optical signal types (DWDM, CWDM) and fiber optic technologies.
- Experience with fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing equipment (fusion splicers, OTDR, power meters).
- Familiarity with industry standards (ITU-T, ANSI/TIA, IEEE, NFPA, BICSI).
- Strong understanding of network topologies (point-to-point, ring, mesh) and redundancy planning.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
- Advanced knowledge of structured cabling solutions and cable management.
- Proficiency in network security principles and practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of network engineering experience, with 5 years in a senior role.
- Proven track record in designing and maintaining large-scale network infrastructure.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
