We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Payroll Specialist to join our team in Wilsonville, OR. In this temporary, 100% onsite role, you will be responsible for processing payroll for 3,000 employees across multiple states, including Oregon, Washington, California, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while complying with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for 3,000 employees across multiple states (OR, WA, CA, WY, ID, MT), ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal laws.
- Lead and oversee the payroll team, ensuring all deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Perform complex payroll calculations, including deductions, benefits, garnishments, bonuses, and commissions.
- Ensure proper tax withholding and filing for multiple states, addressing state-specific payroll requirements and regulations.
- Handle employee inquiries related to payroll discrepancies, benefits, and taxes.
- Ensure timely and accurate issuance of paychecks, direct deposits, and tax forms (W-2s, 1099s, etc.).
- Work closely with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues and ensure the seamless integration of payroll data.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring all changes (e.g., deductions, salary adjustments) are accurately reflected.
- Assist in preparing payroll-related reports for management, including summary reports, tax filings, and audit documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable wage and hour laws, including overtime, minimum wage, and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to other payroll staff as needed.
- Perform additional payroll-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, including experience with multi-state payroll.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly for the states of OR, WA, CA, WY, ID, and MT.
- Proven experience in leading or supervising a payroll team.
- Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, UltiPro, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of benefits administration and tax reporting is a plus.
