Contract-to-Hire, Staff Accountant opportunity in the Smyrna/ Vinings Area!
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with the Controller, managing month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate will be someone who is adaptable, eager to contribute, and ready to support the Controller in a fast-paced, manual accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Perform hands-on month-end close duties, including journal entries, account/bank reconciliations, and balance sheet preparation.
- General Ledger Reconciliations: Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts.
- QuickBooks & Excel: Utilize QuickBooks for day-to-day accounting functions. Excel proficiency is essential, particularly with VLOOKUPS (pivot tables a plus).
- Account Reconciliations: Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Assist Controller: Support the Controller in all areas of accounting, acting as their right hand for various accounting processes and financial reporting.
Required Skills & Experience:
Experience:
- 6 years of accounting experience as a staff accountant
- Hands-on experience with manual month-end close duties
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel, particularly with VLOOKUPS.
- Experience with journal entries, account/bank reconciliations, and balance sheets.
Work Style:
- Able to work independently and with a high level of engagement and passion for the work.
- Comfortable working in manual accounting processes .
- Ability to take direction well and adapt to existing systems.
Supplemental Skills (Nice to Have):
- Familiarity with AP/AR tasks; you may be called on to pitch in, but this will not be your main focus.

Day in the Life:
- You'll spend most of your time in QuickBooks, managing month-end close, bank reconciliations, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Be prepared to adapt and execute the manual accounting processes currently in place for legacy clients. You'll be working alongside the Controller to maintain systems.
