Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders
- Copper Brazing and soldering
- Cut, prep, assemble, and install PVC/CPVC pipe
- Cut, thread, assemble, and install steel pipe
- Prepare, fabricate, fit and install welded pipe to specifications
- Install valves, hangers, supports and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
- Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
- Assemble, install and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
- Assist with coordination of materials, labor and equipment
- Responsible for training and developing apprentices
- Ensure all safety procedures and quality standards are followed
- Work with other departments as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of Commercial and Industrial Plumbing experience
- Must possess a current state of Michigan journeyman plumber’s license
- ASSE Backflow certification preferred
- Working knowledge of all types of piping systems
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and interpret pipe drawings
- Possess the ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly
- Must have the ability to independently lift and carry objects safely that weigh up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds frequently, and 80 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding
- Knowledge of pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water and drainage systems
- Must have the ability to read and interpret a written scope of work
- Perform basic mathematical computations and use measuring tools
- Must be able to identify basic trade materials by size, shape and function and safely use small power and hand tools
- Managerial skills
- Reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
- Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
