COLTS Part-Time Driver
Starting Rate of Pay: $13.75 per hour
The County of Lee Transit System is a coordinated transit system that provides transportation services for the general public and human service agencies in Lee County. The mission of COLTS is to provide safe and reliable transportation to the citizens of Lee County.
COLTS is seeking qualified applicants for Part Time Driver. Employees work 25 to 30 hours per week. The essential functions of the job are to drive a COLTS vehicle on a scheduled route transporting individuals to and from various locations within Lee County, as well as drive to and from neighboring counties.
The ability to lift is extremely important in assisting clients in wheelchairs into and out of the vehicles in a safe manner. Additional responsibilities include maintaining records such as time at each stop, purpose of trip, number of passengers per day, mileage, and reporting needed vehicle maintenance or safety concerns.
Employees must be at least 21 years old, have a valid NC Drivers License, and a good driving record. Experience in operation of large automotive equipment is desirable. Employees must be able to successfully complete training in passenger assistance, defensive driving, and first aid. Training is provided by the employer.
Applicants are required to submit a copy of their driving record for the last three years along with the employment application. Driving records may be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Pre-employment drug testing is required under the regulation of the Federal Transit Administration as well as random drug testing throughout employment tenure.
