What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver, Solid Waste position at Lee County Government?
Lee County is looking for skilled commercial drivers to join our Solid Waste team. If you have experience driving and want to help our community, we want to hear from you! In this role, you will drive a variety of vehicles to transport different types of solid waste like trash, yard waste, recyclables, construction debris, and more to the right disposal sites.

Drive and operate commercial vehicles that are related to the Solid Waste industry such as Tractor-trailers combination style dump trailers, walking floor trailers. In addition to Roll-Off, Grapple trucks, and other related types of equipment.
Haul disposed material to designated disposal facilities, which includes landfills, and various types of recycling facilities.
Perform routine inspections and light maintenance on your equipment.
Fill out daily log sheets and other paperwork using electronic devices.
Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- 1 year of experience driving tractor-trailers, hauling trash, or working in a similar field.
- This is a safety-sensitive position, which is subject to Drug & Alcohol Workplace testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-parts 40 and /or 382.
- Preferred: A valid Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement.
- To Be Considered: A Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement, with the ability to get a Class A CDL within 6 months of being hired.
- No Manual Transmission restrictions on CDL.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Saturday work may be required as needed.
- Additional hours may be necessary during emergencies.
