What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Specialist position at Lee County Government?

- Lawn Maintenance: Mow, trim, and maintain turf areas, ensuring they meet the county’s high standards for appearance and safety.
- General Landscaping: Perform edging, weeding, and other landscaping tasks to keep outdoor spaces neat and well-groomed.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate various lawn care equipment, including push mowers, riding mowers, zero-turn mowers, trimmers, edgers, pickup trucks and trailers. Conduct basic maintenance, such as checking oil levels, sharpening blades, and troubleshooting minor equipment issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols when operating machinery and working in public spaces. Wear protective gear and adhere to established safety guidelines at all times.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with supervisors and team members, reporting any equipment malfunctions or areas requiring additional attention.
- Time Management: Prioritize and complete mowing and maintenance tasks in a timely manner, ensuring that work is finished according to schedule.
- Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent (or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills).
- At least six months of maintenance experience or experience in a related field.
- Licensing:
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basic landscaping practices, including trimming, edging, and lawn care.
- Experience operating a variety of mowing and landscaping equipment.
- Ability to conduct basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ability to work efficiently in both team and independent settings while following all safety protocols.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Work Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
