POSITION: Park Operations Supervisor- Lee County Athletic Park (LCAP)
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $61,229.00 GRADE: 71
General Definition of Work:
Lee County is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Park Operations Supervisor of the Lee County Athletic Park (LCAP). This position will be responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the athletic park. This includes coordinating the scheduling and usage of the athletic park’s various fields and amenities, managing sponsorship inquiries, and overseeing the maintenance of the sponsorship programs. Will coordinate the use of the park with other county program staff, as well as other county departments. Oversee the use of the athletic park from various outside organizations (both sport and non-sport) including tournaments, events, and organizational leagues. Manages food truck operations/vendors at the athletic park through scheduling and contract negotiations. Will ensure that all facilities are properly maintained, safe, and accessible to all users. This position will also handle customer inquiries and concerns and will manage overall logistics of the athletic park. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation. This position has supervisory responsibilities for both full-time and part-time employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
One must have thorough knowledge of the equipment, tools, and techniques required for the effective operation and maintenance of the athletic park including athletic fields, playgrounds, walking trails, shelters, and restrooms; a solid understanding of park safety standards, grounds maintenance procedures, and best practices for facility upkeep; thorough knowledge of the state laws and local ordinances governing park and recreational areas; thorough knowledge of athletic park operations, methods and procedures; thorough knowledge of athletic park rules and regulations; thorough knowledge of the geography of the county park and location of important park buildings; thorough knowledge of first aid and the safe use and operation of equipment; strong supervisory skills to oversee full-time and part-time staff with the ability to assign, supervise and review the work of all park staff; thorough skill in the use of grounds and equipment maintenance tools and equipment; ability to enforce rules and regulations in a firm and courteous manner; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to prepare detailed reports; ability to read and fill out forms and keep records; ability to meet and communicate well with the public; ability to learn specialized tools and equipment based on county needs; ability to handle standard maintenance tools and lawn equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and responsible courses of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances; proficiency in using standard office equipment, software, and related technology to manage operations, schedules, and records; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, program organizers, vendors, and the general public to ensure the athletic park runs efficiently and provides a welcoming environment for all users.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in business administration, maintenance, public relations, parks and recreation, or related field and considerable experience working in the area of parks and recreation management, facility/building management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) within (1) year.
Appropriate training will be provided and must be completed upon hire and on an ongoing basis.
Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.
CPR/First Aid certified.
