What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Mechanic position at Lee County Government?
Internally known as a Trades Worker, this position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of water and wastewater equipment within treatment facilities. Key tasks include the installation, servicing, and repair of pumps, motors, gearboxes, blowers, valves, chemical lines, and tanks.
- Install, repair, and maintain blowers, motors, valves, pumps, and other equipment.
- Perform lubrication tasks such as oiling, greasing, and applying other lubricants to equipment.
- Operate welding equipment for repairing and patching metal pipes.
- Repair pumps, including repacking stuffing boxes and bearings.
- Rebuild or repair gearboxes, gears, seals, and bearings.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED, with 6 months of work experience in public utilities (water, sewer, gas, plumbing, electrical, telecommunications, or a related field).
- Must complete and pass the FDEP Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License training and exam within two years of hire.
- Requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Emergency on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
