What are the responsibilities and job description for the Re-Entry Coordinator position at Lee County Government?
General Definition of Work:
Performs case management, resource coordination, and community engagement related to job placement for individuals who are justice-involved under the supervision of Re-Entry Coordinator for the purpose of assisting individuals in finding accessing employment and providing resource coordination. Also, identifies justice-involved individuals on community supervision and provides guidance with coordination of community services and resources.
Essential Functions:
Assist participants in making a successful transition back in the community by providing resources and service coordination, support, and guidance. Assist participants in creating an individualized case plan of action, monitors progress, and follow-up until completion of the plan. Link and schedule appointments with community providers. Cultivate and educate a pool of potential employability training, job seeking resources, and job coaching assistance to individuals with a criminal history. Assist justice-involved with job placement. Develop and maintain a list of employers who are willing to hire justice-involved individuals. Input/track all participant data and services provided by utilizing case management and data collection systems. Attends/conducts activities in the community relating to employment services and connects employers and community organization to assist participants. Works with participants to develop placement opportunities. Develop and/or strengthen relationships with local employers, colleges, community partners and social services agencies to provide local employment resources to program participants.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to develop comprehensive knowledge of the operations of the criminal justice system, court process and alternatives for and post-trial inmate management; familiarity with data requirements and systems for inmate tracking; ability to develop and organize systems for information flow and follow up procedures for inmate management; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judicial officers, other members of the criminal justice system and personnel in other agencies and jurisdictions. Must have desire to work with underserved and justice involved individuals in nontraditional settings such as the jail.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in criminal justice, criminal law, social work, psychology, or related field; or possess at least a 2-year associate degree in criminal justice, Human Services, or a related field; or graduation from high school and 2 years of case management experience; or 2 years of human services experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
