What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solid Waste Enforcement Officer position at Lee County Government?
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Lee County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Solid Waste Enforcement Officer in the Solid Waste Division of General Services. This employee will be responsible forinvestigating complaints of and from the public concerning violations of the County’s Solid Waste Ordnance, patrolling the unincorporated area of the County, issuing warnings and citations, conducting follow up investigations, compiling evidence and appearing in court as a witness to violations. Must be efficient in Microsoft Office and areas of social media. Must be able to maintain detailed reports of complaints, inspections, violations and citations issued. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. Reports to the Solid Waste Superintendent. In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, employee will help coordinate with the Superintendent for waste diversion issues.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with the public, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Class B or higher CDLs.
