Lee County Mosquito Control District is accepting applications in search of an IT Manager to join our team. The IT Manager will oversee and manage the information technology department, security system and telephone system.

Essential Functions:

  • Administration of VMware vCenter and Veeam backup/recovery software.
  • Design, implement and maintain network architecture in a LAN/WAN environment utilizing copper as well as fiber optic technologies
  • Perform network switch programming and implementation of Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) segmentation to separate data, voice, and other traffic (i.e. camera, wireless)
  • Manage Microsoft Server installation and administration including adding and removing roles such as Active Directory, Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Group policies, Folder redirection, and version control to protect data, add and remove users and setup of permissions
  • Administration of Microsoft 365 including Exchange Server
  • Manages the Access Control badge system to allow/deny access to various buildings and gates during regular hours and off hours including documentation and auditing of access to make sure access permissions are approved and appropriate
  • Administration and testing of Disaster Recovery process and procedures that includes image backups of servers and key computers to a server located in a different building and server images pushed to the cloud to protect from natural disasters like hurricanes or fires
  • Administer the Fuel Master system to track vehicle and user fuel usages and produce monthly and on demand reports
  • Work with outside vendors as needed to purchase necessary equipment, modify systems and/or complete programming updates
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all computer and peripheral equipment
  • Maintain & service all off site remote locations
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the direct supervision, evaluation and performance management of the Network Support Technician and Program Analyst.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Information Systems from an accredited college or university
  • Must have a minimum of 10-12 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Full understanding of network architecture planning & implementation with various technologies copper cabling (CAT 5, CAT 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Fiber Optics)
  • Cisco certifications or competitor equivalency in switch programming or experience using said technologies including programming for VoIP, QoS, & VLAN’s
  • Experience in Server hardware technologies to reduce down time by implementing RAID hard drive technologies & redundant power supplies
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Server roles such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, Snap shots, backups & restores of Operating software and user data
  • Knowledge and proficiency with server operating system versions including Microsoft Server 2016 & 2019
  • Knowledge and proficiency in desktop operating systems in a Windows environment such as Windows 11 Pro
  • Experience leading Programmers in programming projects including system design, system enhancement/change management, database normalization, and database protection
  • Experience leading hardware technicians to identify potential hardware failures, implement new hardware, resolve hardware failures, and document failure recoveries
  • Must have the ability to work an irregular schedule occasionally to accommodate periodic system updates/upgrades, maintenance and/or emergency needs
  • Must have a valid Class E Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must pass the CORE and Public Health exams within six months of hire and be able to maintain certification by earning appropriate CEU’s (continuing education units)
  • Ability to stay abreast of new technologies through continuing education and/or certification

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Physical Requirements: Moderate physical activity is required on a regular basis including lifting, reaching for, pulling and carrying up to fifty pounds while moving computers and other equipment, reaching with arms and hands, using hands and fingers to type, standing, sitting, walking and climbing stairs. Excellent vision, both close and distance, is required frequently.

Work Environment: The work environment varies but normally is an office, but could occasionally include warehouses, workshops, laboratories, airplane hangars, and vehicles. Occasional local travel is required. Noise levels are usually low but occasional exposure to moderate noise levels may be required when around aircraft. Working around chemicals, which are stored, handled, applied and disposed of according to exact labeling instructions, is required occasionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $82,234.11 - $95,939.79 per year
