Florida Retirement System (FRS)
The employee has a choice of a pension or an investment plan. The FRS Pension Plan is a traditional defined benefit plan that offers you a guaranteed monthly benefit for life after the required vesting period. The FRS Investment Plan is a defined contribution plan that receives an employer contribution of 8.3% for regular class employees and 16% for special risk employees . Both are employee and employer-sponsored retirement plans. Lee County Port Authority employees eligible to participate in FRS are required to contribute 3% of each paycheck to FRS. The Port Authority offers two plan choices for all full-time employees, their spouse and their dependents. Coverage begins the first of the month following their date of hire.
Dental Insurance
The Port Authority offers a dental plan for full time employees, their spouse and children.
Vision Insurance
If you are enrolled in the medical plan you and your family are eligible for basic vision coverage through vision discounts. Two more comprehensive plans are offered, including a basic vision plan and a vision 2 high option plan, paid entirely by the employee.
Employee Assistance Program
The Port Authority provides this benefit at no cost to the employee. This is the availability of licensed professional counselors for personal issues with 100% confidentiality.
Flexible Spending Account(s)
There are two types of reimbursement accounts: Medical and Dependent Care. It is optional and allows the employee to have pre tax dollars deducted from their paycheck for reimbursement of medical costs not covered by your plans or child care costs for children under 13.
Life /AD & D Insurance
The Port Authority provides this benefit at no cost to the employee. Employees are insured at an amount equal to the annual salary rounded to the next higher thousand dollars. The AD&D insurance provides additional coverage in the event the employee should lose their limb(s), eyesight or die.
Optional Life Insurance
The Port Authority provides the employee with an option to purchase additional life insurance coverage for him/herself, their spouse and their child(ren).
Short Term Disability
The Port Authority provides the employee with short term disability coverage for him/herself at no cost to the employee.
Long Term Disability
The Port Authority provides this benefit at no cost to the employee. Benefits are paid up to 60% of the employee's salary after being disabled for 90 consecutive days.
Direct Deposit

Key Responsibilities
- Leads assigned work shifts to maintain a proactive posture and ensure operations within the combined framework of the AOCC’s mission, core values, operational priorities and established procedures.
- Responsible for developing, updating and maintaining a common operating picture and communicating/providing real-time situational awareness to airport leadership and emergency responders.
- Coordinates response and operations with emergency, law enforcement and federal agencies.
- Leads AOCC staff in support of the incident command function during emergencies.
- Responsible for completing quality assurance/quality improvement evaluations in accordance with established Operations Instructions (OIs) and conducting annual evaluations for assigned AOCC staff.
- Responsible for developing and implementing training within the AOCC and participating in airport-wide training exercises.
- Assists with reviews of established guidelines and procedures to suggest improvements, develop new procedures and ensure alignment with the needs of our internal and external stakeholders.
- Delegates responsibilities and tasks to AOCC staff with the goal of effectively developing personnel, fostering employee ownership and efficiently completing organizational assignments.
- May serve as the AOCC’s coordinator for established departmental programs.
- Be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Florida driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree desired.
- Must maintain an active Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator License or obtain it within 12 months of appointment to the position.
- Must obtain and maintain both APCO Communications Training Officer & Communications Center Supervisor certification within 12 months of appointment to the position.
- Complete Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and pass multiple criminal background checks to obtain and maintain state and federally mandated security clearances.
- Must be able to obtain an approved Security Threat Assessment from the TSA.
- Must pass a psychological assessment prior to employment.
- Must have completed the FEMA ICS 300 & 400 courses, or complete within 12 months of appointment to the position or as soon as practicable when the courses are available.
- Must maintain an active and valid Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
- Must maintain FDLE Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Full-Access certification.
- 2 - 5 years of verified public safety dispatch experience, with preference given to applicants with two or more years of experience in a supervisory, quality assurance, or training coordinator role.
- Aviation/airport dispatch experience preferred.
Schedule
- Ability to work various shifts (weekends, nights, holidays, and relief shifts) 24/7 depending upon needs of the department and may be adjusted periodically; AOCC Supervisors work an 84-hour (twelve-hour shifts) bi-weekly work week. Schedules may be rotated or changed. This position is subject to holdover or recall on a 24-hour basis for essential services and emergencies.
