- NC Teacher License Required
- NC Teacher License in one or more of the following areas preferred: English Language Arts, Mathematics, English as a Second Language, Elementary Education
- Experience as a Teacher Preferred
JOB DESCRIPTION
Serves as a bilingual educator, parent liaison, and home-school coordinator for interactions between the school, home and community as well as providing academic support services to migrant and English Learner students within or after the school day as part of the district’s overall migrant and Title III education programs. Assists in the coordination of instruction and development of supplemental programs for students participating in the Migrant Education and Title III Programs, in elementary and secondary educational settings. Under the general direction of the Director of Multilingual Education and Support, the Migrant and Title III Educator performs the following duties and responsibilities which include but are not limited to:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively in English and the dominant language of the majority of program students served by the district, both orally and in writing, and to a variety of audiences.
- Organize and facilitate parent nights, workshops, activities and information sessions to promote academic success
- Promote mutual respect, understanding and support between program parents and schools
- Support and assist program parents in expressing their concerns about their children to school personnel through guiding the parent through accepted practices and procedures
- Survey program students and their parents for academic program input
- Evaluate the academic and social-emotional needs of program students to identify areas for support and intervention.
- Modify existing curriculum or develop supplemental materials to address the specific needs and learning gaps of program students.
- Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate culturally relevant pedagogy and address diverse learning styles.
- Work with school administrators, program education coordinators, and community partners to coordinate academic services and support for program students.
- Monitor student progress through data collection and utilizing information to inform instructional decisions.
- Prepare, maintain and submit accurate records, reports, files and documentation for students participating in the program; complete and submit attendance records and all other reports; prepare county and/or state reports as assigned and/or required.
- Provide instructional support services such as tutoring, mentoring and advising and family literacy to program students during the school day, after school hours, and during the extended school year (summer) as appropriate to student needs
- Maintain appropriate data and logs of services rendered to program students
- Use appropriate technology tools to help carry out program compliance measures (e.g. Ellevation Database, Microsoft Excel, Infinite Campus, etc).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
