The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden, located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, is a historic house museum showcasing American history. Role Description
The Fall 2024 Museum Education Intern will assist in the organization of current programs and events in the upcoming 2024 fall/winter season, create ideas to boost Lee-Fendall's social media presence, lead guided tours and assist with administrative tasks. The role requires on-site work at the museum located in Alexandria, VA.
This internship opportunity is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career in the museum field and is seeking experience in museum education and programming. This is an unpaid internship, but college credit can be arranged.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an education, museum education, or museum studies bachelor or graduate degree program or be a recent graduate within twelve months of program completion.
- Education and Teaching skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in training or presenting information
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Passion for history and cultural heritage
- Knowledge of museum practices and educational programming is a plus
Schedule
- Duration: September-November (dates are flexible)
- 15 hours a week (equivalent to two full days and one half-day in the museum)
