What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Travel) position at Lee School?
LOCATION: Lee Elementary School & Travel
CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with Blind, Visually Impaired endorsement
- Must be CPI certified or willingness to complete training
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide educational services to students who are visually impaired ages 3 to 21
- Complete functional vision assessments and written reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and assist the team in determining education needs related to vision
- Recommend specialized materials, equipment, and technology to meet the students’ educational needs
- Provide training on materials, equipment, and technology to students and staff, as needed
- Communicate and plan with ESY teachers about the modification of instructions to meet the students’ educational needs
- Adapt materials for students who are visually impaired
- Participate in ESY meetings with ESY teachers
- Communicate with ESY Coordinators
- Other duties as assigned
