Job Description

This position is responsible for purchasing, shipping, receiving, and inventory coordination ensuring accurate material handling, distribution, and inventory management to guarantee internal process and external customer satisfaction, while maintaining a clean and safe warehouse.

A. Oversee daily activities including purchasing, shipping, and receiving to ensure a safe work environment, timely and accurate material and product handling, and process improvements.

  • Assist in the planning, organizing, and control of the work performed within the warehouse.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with company policies, procedures and government regulations.
  • Provide information to the Management Team on daily operations or when situations arise that may require his / her involvement or to expedite problem resolution and improvements.

B. Purchasing and receiving products and materials to ensure accurate and organized inventory in the warehouse.

  • Enter purchase orders in the system and send them to vendors.
  • Organization of purchase orders, confirmations, and incoming shipment schedules.
  • Unload trucks and expedient receiving of shipments from vendors.
  • Verify all materials and identification numbers against the order.
  • Inspect all cartons and materials for damage.
  • Make sure there is the proper number of items or materials.
  • Update records to reflect the date received, availability status, and location.
  • Put away products to maximize warehouse space.
  • C. Coordinate, organize and maintain product inventory in the warehouse ensuring product availability, organization and accuracy.

  • Stock or sort products in proper bins when needed.
  • Rearrange, sort, and pull inventory.
  • Perform periodic cycle counts to verify inventory.
  • Assist in physical inventories and warehouse projects as required.
  • Update location records immediately upon movement or transfer of equipment, parts or materials.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the product return process.
  • Research and identify inventory discrepancies.
  • D. Maintain a clean warehouse to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

  • Dispose of all garbage and unused shipping materials using the specified methods.
  • Clean and sweep the warehouse.
  • Clear the front, and shipping area from snow and debris.
  • E. Perform special projects and other activities to result in a favorable input to the department and / or the company.

  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Occasionally run department errands to pick-up or drop-off goods.
  • F. Cooperate with peers and supervisors to achieve company goals by coordinating actions and decisions with other departments.

  • Share techniques and information with other departments to facilitate workflow.
  • Provide constructive and positive feedback to peers in other departments.
  • Participate in interdepartmental teams to encourage departmental cooperation and coordination of mutual issues to maximize organizational results.
  • G. Participate in continuous improvement / quality initiatives to enhance company processes to achieve quality, accuracy and timeliness.

  • Consistently follow departmental procedures and policies.
  • Develop and implement improved processes leading to higher quality service for customers.
  • Utilize any tools and / or processes implemented by the company to assure adherence to quality standards.
  • Participate with other employees in the generation and implementation of new initiatives and ideas that will improve quality and assist in the achievement of quality goals.
  • POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

    Required :

  • Strong PC skills (Office, Outlook, QuickBooks, MiSys, UPS, FedEx)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Operate forklift
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Previous receiving and shipping experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Preferred :

  • 2 years of purchasing experience
  • 2 years of shipping and receiving experience
  • Experience working in a small manufacturing facility
  • 2 year Associate of Arts Degree
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
