We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our construction company's finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with budget preparation, supporting project accounting, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial reporting standards. Experience in the construction industry and familiarity with construction-specific accounting practices (e.g., job costing, AIA billing) is highly preferred.
- Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Support project accounting by tracking job costs, change orders, and project budgets.
- Process AIA progress billings and maintain billing schedules.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
- Assist with payroll processing and related journal entries.
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to monitor project financial performance.
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and job cost accounting principles.
