This role is for one of the largest Property Mangement companies in South Florida.
Position Overview: A Property Accountant is responsible for managing the financial transactions and reporting related to real estate properties. This role involves overseeing the accounting processes, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data for property management activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable Management: Monitor and reconcile tenant accounts, ensure timely collection of rents, and manage vendor payments. Address discrepancies and ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing property budgets, tracking variances, and providing monthly forecasts to property management and owners.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts related to each property, including journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and deferrals.
- Audit Support: Assist in the preparation and organization of financial documents for internal and external audits.
- Cash Management: Monitor property cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds for operational expenses and property improvements.
- Lease Administration: Work closely with the property management team to ensure proper lease accounting, including tenant billings, lease escalations, and expense recoveries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting principles, including GAAP, and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with property managers, vendors, and tenants.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
- Proficient in financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple properties and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
