Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with real estate industry experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting processes for a portfolio of real estate properties. This role involves preparing financial statements, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while supporting strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate assets, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to leadership and investors.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany accounts.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Collaborate with property managers and leadership to prepare property budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and addressing inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulatory requirements specific to real estate.
- Process Improvement & Special Projects:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Participate in ad hoc projects, including acquisitions, dispositions, and capital expenditure reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.
- Proficiency in property management accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate-specific accounting practices, including CAM reconciliations and lease accounting.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
