Finisher/Laminator Job Description
Position Summary:
The Finisher/Laminator is responsible for the final stages of production, ensuring that all millwork products are expertly finished and laminated to meet the highest standards of quality and aesthetics. This role involves working with various materials, stains, paints, and laminates to achieve the desired appearance and functionality of the finished products. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, a passion for woodworking, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Responsibilities
- Apply stains, paints, sealants, and other finishing materials to wood products, following specified techniques and customer preferences.
- Sand and smooth surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of finishing materials and achieve a smooth, flawless finish.
- Operate laminating machinery and equipment to adhere laminates or veneers to millwork surfaces, taking care to align patterns and eliminate air bubbles.
- Spray finish custom woodwork with lacquer-based products
- Assist in selecting the appropriate finishing materials, laminates, and veneers for each project, considering factors such as wood type and environmental conditions.
- Inspect finished products for consistency, color accuracy, and defects, making any necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain top-notch quality.
· Comply with all safety guidelines and practices to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
· Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of finishing and laminating equipment to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Knowledge of wood finishing techniques, stains, paints, and laminates (preferred)
- Good manual dexterity and an eye for detail and quality
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to read a tape measure properly.
- Skill in using various finishing tools and equipment, such as spray guns, brushes, and sanders.
- Attention to detail and an artistic eye for color and texture matching.
- Physical capability to handle and move millwork products, including lifting heavy items.
- Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines.
Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noise levels consistent with a mill work factory environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
