Title: Chief of Campus PoliceDepartment: Campus Police and SecurityCategory: ExemptSummary/ObjectiveCoordinate and manage the department's police and public safety program at all Lees-McRae College locations.Develop and provide appropriate personnel training to ensure the college is proactive and compliant with public safety requirements.Make independent decisions to ensure continuity of police services.Manage operations and provide supervision of personnel.Establish departmental goals and objectives.Performs a wide variety of law enforcement functions, including but not limited to campus patrol and security, crime prevention, criminal investigations, community service and assistance, and other law enforcement-related duties.Essential FunctionsUtilizes relationship based, community building, proactive policing techniques to Chief of Campus Police is responsible for, and has commensurate authority to, command, direct, and organize the campus Police Department.Establishing objectives for the department, developing policies and procedures on the campus, and selecting, appointing, training, disciplining, and promoting officers and employees in the department.The Chief of Campus Police is responsible for providing and maintaining human safety and the security of campus property in the surrounding areas.The Chief of Campus Police plans, manages, and directs the law enforcement of the campus investigations. In addition, the Chief of Campus Police represents the Police Department on campus, within the community, with outside law enforcement agencies.The Chief of Campus Police must be committed to providing excellent customer service and community policing.Patrol campus property on foot and by vehicle to identify hazardous conditions, take corrective measures to reduce or eliminate hazards to persons or college property.Respond to calls for service in a timely manner.
