Title: Coordinator of Campus Recreation and the SRC Department: Student AffairsReports to: Director of Campus LifeCategory: ExemptSummary/ObjectiveThe Coordinator of Campus Recreation and the SRC will provide leadership and oversight in the support of the mission and goals for the Department of Student Affairs. The coordinator oversees the Arthur Student Recreation Center in conjunction with Student Affairs and Athletics the areas including indoor/outdoor recreational facilities and fitness, recreation and RSO programs. In addition, the coordinator collaborates with other campus departments and organizations to provide diverse programming and wellness initiatives for students. This position is a full-time, 12-month live-in position.Essential FunctionsOversee current and future Campus Recreation facilities. Current facilities include the SRC (shared with Athletics). Oversight involves supervising staff, maintenance, renovations, and planning for future needs.Oversees programs in the Recreation Complex in line with Campus Life programming goals.Create opportunities for students to experience outdoor programming which may include off-campus trips, like rafting, caving, hiking, camping, snowtubing, river tubing, ect.Provide supervision to Campus Recreation staff.Recruit fitness instructors and coordinate scheduling of fitness classesManage Campus Recreation budgets and provide accountability through approval of department expenditures and monthly reconciliations.Implement a consistent training program for new employees. Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling Campus Recreation student assistants.Oversee Campus Recreation equipment and policies for check-out and management.Market the Campus Recreation department by developing a marketing plan and overseeing publications, web pages, and social media accounts.Coordinate with the Office of Student Affairs on comprehensive wellness initiatives for students.Create, advertise, sell, and manage the summer membership program for the SRC for community members and alumni.Develop a way to track the usage of the SRC and attendance at campus recreation programs.Remain current through networking, professional development, certifications, etc.Serve as a member of the Student Affairs emergency on-call rotation.Competencies1. Candidate can be outside for activities, extra skill sessions, and classes.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and weekends is required. Work hours vary from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, with weekend hours as needed.TravelNo travel is typically required for this position. Occasional travel for conferences, training, or obtaining certifications/licensures may be required.
