LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is a high-growth renewable energy company forging a sustainable future through integrity, innovation, and positive impact. We own and operate 30 large wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the United States, totaling over 3 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

LRE has an ambitious goal of 10GW of operating assets by 2028 and are developing and contracting an increasing pipeline of new projects every year. LRE Energy Services: 

LRE is actively executing its strategic plan that sees the number of operating project companies that will require portfolio management and asset optimization services increasing from 7 to 44 over the next three years, across multiple markets. The scope and scale of the Company’s growth has led to the development and board approval of an Energy Services business plan to include asset optimization as a core capability and an integral part of our strategy. Energy Services is charged with building the infrastructure, processes, risk controls and the execution team (transaction and compliance) for the asset optimization functions for the full suite of portfolio management services.

Once fully staffed and equipped with infrastructure, risk management and compliance capabilities, the Asset Optimization business will engage in active portfolio management mitigating commodity, regulatory and basis risk and pursue revenue enhancement via structured transactions and trading.  

LRE’s unique growth position provides entrepreneurial risk and trading professionals with the unique opportunity to build an Energy Services and Asset Optimization business from the ground up.    

Job Summary:

The Market and Fundamentals Analyst (“Analyst”) will provide analytics support to the Energy Services, Origination and Project Development teams. The Analyst will develop and maintain long-term pricing models focused on supporting trading and development activities and maintaining corporate annual budget models. The role will also support the development, maintenance, deployment of internal analytics and market intelligence across the organization. Additionally, the Analyst will be responsible for preparing and maintaining Short and Long-Term pricing prediction models for short-term market activities.

Essential Functions:

• Lead the development of internal analytics, market intelligence systems and reports.
• Aggregate data from multiple sources and proprietary models. (e.g., ISO/RTO market data, Platts forward curve providers, production cost models, Third Party fundamental price forecast curves.)
• Collect, process, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Develop new and continuously improve existing models and integrate machine learning and other advanced analytical techniques into LRE’s models.
• Develop predictive DA/RT price models in multiple markets.
• Develop REC Supply/Demand model.
• Work with stakeholders and LRE teams to proactively identify business needs and develop systems, models, and analyses to address them.
• Design and maintain data visualization tools to communicate market insights to stakeholders.
• Manage the Energy Services Budgeting process.
• Lead development and deployment of the LRE forward price forecast used for long-term trading view and the budgeting process.
• Develop a medium to long term pricing model (-3years) based on market fundamentals to inform LRE’s trading view.
• Work with the Finance team to provide key data for the Financial Model Input Control model and review processes.
• Collaborate with traders to run scenario analysis to identify trading opportunities and risks
• Timely issue of Forward Curves, PPA forecast curves to Origination and Energy Services.
• Develop and deploy market performance reports summarizing performance and identify opportunities.
• Effectively communicate conclusions arising from data analysis.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• 2 to 4 years of professional experience in data analysis, market analysis, and financial modeling required.
• Must be strongly proficient in Excel and Word.
• Strong Python, SQL and machine learning knowledge.
• Must hold bachelor’s degree in business or STEM.
• Relevant power and renewable energy experience is not required but strongly preferred.
• Creative thinker with strong investigative and analytical skills accompanied by entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent command of data visualization techniques and using data to surface insights and tell an understandable and compelling story.
• Comfortable in collecting, managing, and integrating structured and unstructured data.
