We own and operate 30 large wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the United States, totaling over 3 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.
LRE has an ambitious goal of 10GW of operating assets by 2028 and are developing and contracting an increasing pipeline of new projects every year. Job Summary:
The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and championing ESG strategies, policies and programs that support LRE’s commitment to responsible development and leadership in delivering clean energy to its customers.
The ESG Sr. Manager will help develop change management strategies to align ESG initiatives and policies with business processes in the LRE fleet of development, construction, and operations projects. The individual is responsible for managing ESG due diligence, metrics, and reporting.
This role requires cross functional coordination and collaboration with internal subject matter experts and metric owners to ensure internal metrics and progress are defined, tracked, and communicated. The qualified candidate will have experience developing, supporting, and leading ESG programs and policies, and a proven track record implementing and reporting ESG metrics internally and externally.

Essential Functions:
- Develop an ESG strategy with input and agreement from the ESG Steering Committee that aligns with company priorities, business goals, and industry best practices.
- Use the approved ESG strategy to create a roadmap that allows the SLT to effectively oversee strategy and adherence in departments across the organization.
- Establish and implement an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) Implementation with ESG metrics, reporting processes and standards, including climate risk tracking and mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable frameworks.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders and build public awareness, enhance understanding of ESG, and raise visibility through external communications and industry events.
- Provide progress updates to the Senior Leadership team, Board of Directors, and OMERS, maintaining key relationships and aligning strategies.
- Design and report on sustainable land management practices that promote biodiversity, community engagement, and alignment with ESG goals.
- The role supports Corporate Communication internal and external communications efforts to promote LRE’s ESG leadership with key internal and external stakeholders, including placement in industry and mainstream media, events and speaking engagements.
- Ensuring LRE has a current supplier code of conduct and reports out to key stakeholders that LRE is compliant to our commitments, including a robust supply chain management system to evaluate and mitigate environmental and social risks.
- Create policies and guidelines for sustainability programs that address environmental, social, governance, health, safety, and DEI.
- Manage corporate philanthropy efforts and create ESG reporting for financing parties, including an annual Green Financing Framework.
- Participate as a key stakeholder in employee resource groups (ERG) bringing in external best practices to progress innovative solutions, foster collaboration and engagement on sustainability and DEI efforts.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for direct reports, setting goals, monitoring performance, and supporting career growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Communications, or related field. A graduate degree is a plus but not required.
- 5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG metrics, reporting or communications.
- Certification and/or knowledge of ESG Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards.
- Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to successfully execute strategies and action plans.
- Proven experience presenting, advocating, and interacting with senior level management.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, planning, organization, and execution.
- Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently in a rapidly evolving business environment to anticipate challenges and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate teams, and facilitate effective meetings.
- Take direction and apply constructive feedback to improve work product.
- An understanding of the energy industry.
