Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Detention Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the correctional facility. Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Respond to emergencies and disturbances, utilizing conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations effectively.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and facility conditions.
- Operate surveillance equipment such as CCTV systems to monitor inmate movements and activities.
- Enforce institutional policies, procedures, and regulations while providing guidance and support to inmates as needed.
- Conduct searches of inmates, their belongings, and common areas for contraband or unauthorized items.
- Administer first aid and CPR in emergency situations until professional medical assistance arrives.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to ensure the safety of the facility.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Certification in correctional officer training or related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in law enforcement or security roles is highly desirable.
- Strong report writing skills for documentation of incidents and daily activities.
- Familiarity with conflict management strategies and techniques for handling difficult situations.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR procedures is essential; certification is a plus.
- Experience operating surveillance equipment such as CCTV is advantageous.
- A background in military service may be beneficial but is not required.
