Detention Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Detention Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the correctional facility. This position requires strong conflict management skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to upholding the law while ensuring the welfare of both staff and inmates.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmate activities and conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Respond to emergencies and disturbances, utilizing conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations effectively.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and facility conditions.
• Operate surveillance equipment such as CCTV systems to monitor inmate movements and activities.
• Enforce institutional policies, procedures, and regulations while providing guidance and support to inmates as needed.
• Conduct searches of inmates, their belongings, and common areas for contraband or unauthorized items.
• Administer first aid and CPR in emergency situations until professional medical assistance arrives.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to ensure the safety of the facility.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• Certification in correctional officer training or related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in law enforcement or security roles is highly desirable.
• Strong report writing skills for documentation of incidents and daily activities.
• Familiarity with conflict management strategies and techniques for handling difficult situations.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR procedures is essential; certification is a plus.
• Experience operating surveillance equipment such as CCTV is advantageous.
• A background in military service may be beneficial but is not required.
