What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jail Administrator position at Leflore County Detention Center?
Jail Administrator Summary:
Administers and provides leadership to jail programs to ensure safety and security inside the LeFlore County Detention Center (LCDC). The Administrator is responsible for the administration of custodial, treatment, education, training, personnel, and business programs necessary for the operation of the jail facility. This position will assign and direct subordinates, ensuring that all policies, rules, regulations, orders, procedures, and directives are enforced and implemented. The Jail Administrator will report to the LCDC board on the operation of the jail, and take all employment suggestions to the board for approval. The Jail Administrator will communicate regularly with federal, state, county, and local officials. This position requires a thorough knowledge of the law enforcement and jail standards and procedures. The Administrator will work under the general supervision of the LeFlore County Detention Center Public Trust Authority.
The Jail Administrator is generally responsible for the supervision and management of all jail employees and all inmates in custody. The Jail Administrator must be able to develop job duties and descriptions and provide counsel to personnel.
The Jail Administrator must be able to operate all applicable computer programs and systems related to the Jail AND must attend LCDC Trust Authority recommended training opportunities.
The Jail Administrator must have good communication skills in order to communicate with all persons who working, are housed by, or interact with the jail, including but not limited to public defenders, bondsmen, the State DOC, the US Bureau of Prisons, the District Attorney's Office, Clergy, medical professionals, etc.
The Jail Administrator must manage all aspects of contracted services in the jail, such as: inmate housing (state and federal), food services, health services, commissary, alcohol and drug screening, inmate grievances, etc.
The candidate MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK AND AT A MINIMUM HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT, and be LAW ENFORCEMENT CLEET CERTIFIED.
The starting pay is $58,000 per year, plus retirement and benefits.
