Middle School Math Teacher (6th, 7th, and/or 8th)

Position Summary
The Middle School Math Teacher will inspire and educate scholars through a problem- and project-based curriculum personalized to the needs of each scholar and help cultivate a college-going mindset for both scholars and their families, to enable each child to reach his or her full academic potential.
Competencies & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred from an accredited college/university.
- Current teaching license required.
- Three or more years teaching middle school math or Algebra I experience is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with Ready Math curriculum and intervention curricula (e.g. Dreambox, MobyMax) is desired.
- Deep knowledge of the MS College and Career Readiness Standards preferred.
- Familiarity with or connection to the MS Delta region is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Computer-savvy and comfortable navigating various technologies and platforms.
- Experience implementing a project/problem-based curriculum preferred.
- Strong record of using data-driven lesson planning to support scholar success is strongly preferred.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support the mission and vision of Leflore Legacy Academy.
- Embrace and embody the Leflore Legacy Academy core values.
- Design and deliver inspiring, data-driven, project/problem-based instructional lessons aligned with state academic standards.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide high-quality group instruction, while allowing the flexibility of personalization to meet the needs of scholars with varying learning styles.
- Identify scholar needs and cooperate with the professional learning community to address issues outside the classroom that impact scholar learning, such as physical and mental health, home environment, food insecurity, learning differences, and more.
- Work collaboratively with parents to ensure the most effective learning experience possible for each scholar.
- Establish and maintain high standards of scholar behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Implement a Restorative Justice discipline policy in conjunction with other members of the Leflore Legacy community.
- Administer assessments in a variety of forms (formative, summative, standardized, etc.) in accordance with the school’s testing programs.
- Evaluate scholars’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare scholar reports and communicate with parents regarding their child's progress.
- Attend professional development opportunities as required and provided by the administration.
- Actively participate in a professional learning community.
