Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Color Correction Supervisor to join our design department. This pivotal role will oversee the entire color correction process, ensuring that all artwork and print-ready files meet the highest standards of quality and consistency. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for color accuracy, expertise in digital imaging, and experience working with large format printing equipment. They will supervise a team of digital artists and collaborate with various departments to ensure timely and accurate output for production.
Key Responsibilities
Color Management & Production Oversight
- Lead the color correction process across all art and production files, ensuring color fidelity from screen to print.
- Oversee scanning, retouching, and adjustments of artwork, including original hand-painted and digital pieces.
- Utilize software such as Adobe Photoshop for high-level rescaling, retouching, shading, and blending.
- Perform rigorous quality control checks, ensuring adherence to specifications and brand standards.
Technical Operations
- Operate and maintain large-format printers and RIP software (e.g. Caldera, Onyx).
- Troubleshoot printer and file issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Monitor output consistency, resolution, and color accuracy across all printed material.
- Work with various file types and color spaces (CMYK, RGB, Pantone) and optimize files for different substrates.
Team Supervision & Workflow
- Oversee and train a small team of digital artists.
- Create and maintain organized digital workflows for version control, file backup, and archival.
- Coordinate schedules to ensure all deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design and Production teams.
Administrative & Strategic Duties
- Track printer usage, supplies, and maintenance schedules.
- Recommend process improvements and help implement new technologies or tools.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in digital imaging, color correction, or print production.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop; Illustrator, InDesign, and RIP software.
- Hands-on experience with large format printers and a strong understanding of color calibration.
- Background in fine arts or digital painting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with an excellent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with basic math and color theory.
- High school diploma required; relevant associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional visual acuity and sensitivity to color nuances.
- Technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Collaborative mindset with strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for long periods when needed.
