Restaurant Expeditor duties and responsibilities
Restaurant Expeditors are the go-betweens linking the front-of-house and back-of-house teams in a restaurant. They stand at the pass—the area in front of the hot line where cooks place finished orders awaiting pickup—and streamline the flow of food as dishes are produced.
A Restaurant Expeditor, also known as a Food Expeditor, ensures orders are accurate, hot and presentable before they leave the kitchen. They often take charge of table tickets, coordinating pickups so everyone at the table gets their food at the same time.
Other duties may include:
Checking that orders have been made correctly
- Adding garnishes
- Cleaning up plates by wiping the rim
- Communicating customer complaints or modifications back to the cooks
- Keeping the area clean and up to health department standards
- Assisting staff with prepping dishes or running food to tables
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE- Service Support - Busser/Expo responsibilities consist of some or all of the following:
Ability to recognize, learn, and consistently execute product freshness, proper presentation, and attention to the Arooga’s spec of each plate
- To be timely in execution
- To control quality assurance
- To manage traffic flow
- Properly present food to the guests without resorting to a food auction
- Evening, Weekend and Holiday work are required

We are looking for Food Runners/Expeditors to help keep a smooth and efficient workflow between the kitchen and the dining area. Food Runner/Expeditor responsibilities include but are not limited to delivering food from the kitchen to the guest in the restaurant, ensuring that each guest receives the correct order, refilling guests' drinks as requested, and answering any questions they may have. The Food Runner/Expeditor helps provide an unforgettable dining experience for Anna's House guests.
The Food Runner/Expeditor's overall job is to work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure food accuracy and quality before the guest receives their order.
- Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the wait staff to the kitchen
- Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority and alert management to quality issues or long wait times
- Assist in the final plate presentation (e.g. adding condiments and/or toppings)
- Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation, and temperature
- Deliver orders quickly to customers to maintain fast service
- Communicate important information to the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g. when a customer has a particular request)
- Keep Runner/Expo area clean and well-stocked
- Eliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines, or dishwashing
- Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards, and assist in cleaning
- Handle complaints from customers to preserve the restaurant’s reputation of providing excellent customer service
- Support other tasks as needed (e.g. telephone orders, organizing and bagging to-go orders)
- Perform duties of host, busser, and takeout/deli server as directed by lead
Qualifications:
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
- Maintain the dexterity needed to use kitchen equipment or utensils
- Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 40 pounds at a time
- Ability to bend and stoop frequently
