Summary/Objective
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced aircraft builder and fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with small aircraft and building experimental aircraft or rebuilding small general aviation aircraft. A strong familiarity with fabrication shops will also warrant strong consideration. An IA or A&P certification is a plus but not required.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the development of Experimental Amateur Built Aircraft kits and Light Sport Aircraft.
- Maintain factory tools and inventory.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of factory.
- Assist coordination with contracted fabricators and shop personnel to ensure proper installation of aircraft parts.
- Fabricate steel, aluminum, plastic, composite, and fabric (such as ceconite) aircraft components as required.
- Assist in building amateur built aircraft; this may include working with customers in our build assist program.
- Assist in identifying and rectifying build discrepancies for amateur built aircraft.
- Assist in supporting a local on airport build assist program.
- Occasional paid travel to air shows and fly-ins to market and showcase aircraft.
- Willingness to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement relating to aircraft build and parts fabrication processes and activities.
Competencies
- Experience in building Experimental or Kit aircraft.
- Experience rebuilding small general aviation aircraft
- Experience fabricating; steel, aluminum, plastic, composite, and/or fabric parts.
- Experience or ability to manage and manipulate CAD files is a plus but not a requirement.
- Experience using or ability to learn CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment is a plus but not a requirement.
- Must be very experienced with computers and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations.
- Ability to communicate proactively and effectively with team members and outside entities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Management experience preferred, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of fabricators / builders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Private Pilot, Commercial, and Flight Instructor certifications are highly desirable but not required.
