Overview: Legacy at College Hill, a Skilled Nursing facility in Wichita, KS, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The Maintenance Assistant will ensure that our facility operates smoothly and that all maintenance needs are promptly addressed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and staff.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine building and grounds maintenance, including repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct daily inspections of the facility to ensure it meets health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Assist in the upkeep of landscaping and outdoor areas.
- Ensure all safety equipment is in working order and maintained regularly.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
- Perform painting, cleaning, and minor repairs to building structures and equipment.
- Assist with moving furniture, setting up for events, or other tasks as directed.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs and scheduled equipment checks.
- Adhere to safety procedures and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and request replacements as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Education & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
- Must pass background check and drug screening as per state regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying, lifting, and moving equipment and materials.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including outdoors, in all weather conditions.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
