As an Benefits Specialist at Legacy Bank, you will play a key role in our dynamic Human Resources Department. This role is responsible for the administration and communication of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, leave policies, and wellness initiatives. This role ensures compliance with all applicable laws and provides guidance to employees on their benefits options. As part of a small HR team, the Benefits Specialist will also cross-train in general HR functions to provide support as needed allowing for additional developmental opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Administers employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and benefits terminations, and leave management. Provides information and assists employees with questions related to benefit eligibility, plan features, provisions, and other matters related to benefits.
- Works closely with benefits vendors to manage claims, billing, and program updates. Reconciles statements, invoices, prepares and distributes correspondence related to benefits and troubleshoots as needed to ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with regulatory agencies, auditors, federal, state and local laws pertaining to all employee matters, including but not limited to ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and HIPAA.
- Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and provide ongoing education on available programs. Assist in wellness program development, employee engagement initiatives.
- Coordinates payroll-related processes with the third-party payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely pay for employees. Maintains accurate employee information, updates personnel records, and submits change requests for benefits and salary adjustments in conjunction with payroll and benefits processing.
- Coordinates open enrollment processes, including communication, system updates, and employee education.
- Ensures all required labor and wage notices, posters, and policies are current and made available to all employees.
- Cross-train in general HR functions, including recruitment and employee relations, to provide backup support as needed.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
