Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking a Nurse Manager for our BHCC Department in Valdosta, Georgia. The Nurse Manager of the BHCC provides direction and supervision to the BHCC nursing and clinical support staff by coordinating the delivery of patient care, maintaining quality assurance by assisting in the formulation and implementation of nursing policy and procedures, and working as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, administration, and others at LBHS. Assumes charge in the absence of the BHCC Director. Performs treatments and provides care to consumers per MD orders and accepted Nursing Standard of Practice guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
The Nurse Manager of the BHCC is supervised by the Administrative Director of the BHCC and has 24/7 nursing oversight responsibilities.

This position requires:
A Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in a health-related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Two years of psychiatric nursing experience required. One year of experience serving as a lead worker over nursing staff in a psychiatric health facility or inpatient unit preferred; or
A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
License: Must be actively licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
Knowledge of principles and practices of effective employee supervision, development, and evaluation; psychiatric nursing treatment and psychotherapeutic interventions; theories, techniques, and practices of professional nursing; principles, practices, and laws of professional nursing; laws and regulations pertaining to psychiatric nursing; the uses and effects of psychotropic drugs and narcotics; patient safety practices and locked-facility security; theories, principles, and techniques of group and individual psychotherapy; symptoms and behavior patterns of emotionally disturbed and mentally ill patients; mental health community resources and services; health education and interviewing and counseling techniques; common mental and physical illnesses, diseases, disabilities, injuries, and nutrition; medical equipment operation.
Ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of nursing and support staff and facility activities in a 24-hour psychiatric unit; identify and make recommendations regarding operational problems; develop and conduct staff training; explain mental health laws and regulations; observe emotional and physical behavior of patients; evaluate and assess the need for mental health services; analyze a situation and adopt a course of action; prepare and maintain medical records and reports; recognize and respect limits of confidential information; communicate with people of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic origins; speak before groups; exercise independent judgment in medical emergencies; demonstrate tact, diplomacy, patience and compassion; establish and maintain working relationships with other mental health professionals, subordinate staff, co-workers, other agencies, and organizations; comply with and enforce nursing policies, protocols, and program regulations; understand and follow instructions, work independently.

Working Conditions:
Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations. May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in BHSGA or personal vehicle.
Work Environment: Employee works in a locked facility with patients who can be a danger to themselves and others. He/she must be able to restrain patients in crisis and other situations, and to work shifts. Employees in this position may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from persons served or the working environment. Incumbents may be required to work extended periods of time at computer terminals. They may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and /or deceased patients.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Must be able to lift fifteen to twenty-five pounds and endure extended periods of standing on a daily basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching as well as lifting and supporting the individuals served.
