Job Description
Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking a Billing and Authorization Specialist to work in Valdosta, Georgia. The Billing and Authorization Specialist under the general supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager, will perform intense data management involving Verification, Eligibility, Authorization, and Billing processes for all Payer sources. Will perform daily batch/upload processes related to authorization and billing functions. Will act as liaison to consumers/payers and/or staff to resolve complex eligibility and billing issues. Must be capable of learning and retaining authorization and billing rules. Must be capable of independent research, preparing financial analysis, monitoring, and maintaining related data. This position requires self-motivation, the capability of working independently as well as being a team player. May perform other routine departmental duties as required.

This position requires:
High school diploma/or equivalent and two plus years of work experience in a medical billing service in an office environment, which must have included processing electronic claims, claims research, and problem resolution.
Two years of analysis and resolution of eligibility and billing discrepancies and preparation of financial reports containing consumer data.
Work experience must include performance of authorization and eligibility verification duties, preferably in a Mental Health setting.
Previous medical office experience filing Managed Care, Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party insurance claims and appeals preferred.

Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Sits, stands, bends, and moves intermittently during work hours. Occasional bending and kneeling may be required in troubleshooting equipment/assisting. Manual dexterity/wrist and hand repetitions: good manual and finger dexterity is needed; up to ninety-five percent of working time may be spent using a computer keyboard. Must have good visual acuity and depth perception to operate the computer system; speaking and hearing are essential to the communication needs of the position.
Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled, and humidity-controlled environment, office setting. May share workspace with other staff. May be requested on occasion to travel to conferences and meetings as an organization/department representative.
