Drivers typically work 4x10-hour shifts per week, deliver locally and have weekends off!
Summary:
The Lead Driver position contributes to the success of Legacy Beverage, LLC. ensuring that all products are delivered safely and on time to our customers. The primary focus will be to coordinate delivery activities to our customers; cover all relief and vacation routes; oversee the training of new drivers, promote employee safety through training and accountability of Legacy Beverage’s Safety Policy and DOT regulations, initiate investigations into causes of damages and/or shortages and manage daily inquiries concerning vehicles and service status as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Must have a clear and valid Class A CDL license and must be able to lift 50lbs or more frequently.
- Must have ability to connect and build rapport with associates and external customers at all levels
- Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills
- Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen are required
- Ability to manage through a problem, think, and make decisions independently
- Reliable
- Excellent customer service skills
- Focused on safety
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Assist leadership in observations and safety training
- Assist with truck issues and unforeseen delivery issues in overnight/early morning hours
- Driving your assigned truck safely and responsibly
- Following all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
- Unloading truck at customer locations, extensive/difficult backing
- Reporting problems with trucks, as well as accidents, traffic violations, and damage before and after routes, directly to Manager
- Reporting any mechanical problems with vehicles to Ryder/ Manager for repair
- Acting as the main point of contact with your customer
- Cross-train on all routes
- Ensure on time delivery is met
- Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition
- Provide relief coverage on occasion for drivers that are off or absent from the shift
- Responsible for working with other departments on the delivery schedule and shifts needed for daily operations.
- Communicate with drivers/ sales team/ Managers regarding pick-ups and drop-offs, delays, emergencies, and other relevant information.
- Ensuring that cargo is loaded and unloaded properly, safely, and efficiently.
- Accompany drivers to ensure proper delivery and safe driving that support and follow company standards, policies and procedures.
Schedule:
- Tuesday-Friday
- Monday when needed
- Weekends when needed
