LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Behavior Technician will provide direct one-on-one behavioral interventions and teach communication, social, and daily skills in order to reduce problematic behaviors in the school setting. The Behavior Technician will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis along with restorative practices.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationships by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value of social interaction.
- Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills
- Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
- Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
- Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording
- Works with the behavior team to develop a treatment plan, goals and interventions.
- Follows the treatment plan utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation
- Trains teachers and other team members to follow the treatment plan in the school environment.
- Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment
- Regularly reviews the treatment plan with the behavioral team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred
- Two years of completed coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, human development, or related fields
- Current or previous certification as a Registered Behavior Technician
- Two years of experience working with children or adolescents in the area of behavioral support
- Current Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification, preferred
- Strong belief in the mission and vision of Legacy Early College.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong follow-through skills
- Excellent organization and time management; high sense of urgency
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred

Work Schedule
This position will operate on the centralized Legacy Early College central office calendar, on the 195-day schedule, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and Friday, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

- Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
- Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the
ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
