LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on-site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of College Success is responsible for setting the strategic vision of the Legacy’s College Success Team and ensuring that all Legacy Early College scholars and alumni are benefiting from strong and strategic post-secondary counseling and support. The Director of College Success will oversee the development and implementation of robust programming for students and alumni success in high school, dual enrollment, post-secondary programs, and careers.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties
Legacy’s College Success Strategy and Vision
- Collaborate with the high school Principal, Chief Schools Officer, and Legacy Board to develop and implement a strategic plan for the college counseling program aligned with the organization's vision.
- Establish annual goals for the College Success team in partnership with the high school Principal, Chief Schools Officer, and the Legacy Early College Board.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations that support alumni success in high school, dual enrollment, and post-secondary programs, including academic, social, summer, and career development opportunities.
Drive the development of Legacy’s Career Services Program
- Oversee and manage the College Success Team’s budget, including the approval process for team members in College Success & Alumni Affairs.
- Develop and maintain a robust system for record-keeping and accountability within the College and Career Readiness (CCR) program.
Drive Results Through College Success Management and Development
- Lead, manage, and develop the College Success Team, including College Counselors and the Director of Alumni Success.
- Oversee all college knowledge, career exploration curriculum, post-secondary preparation, and career success initiatives.
- Manage communication, events, and services focused on college readiness, access, persistence, completion, and career readiness.
- Develop and maintain a data management system for student and college data entry and tracking.
- Provide mentorship and counseling to alumni, including guidance on high school, college, and financial aid matters, as needed.
Manage Legacy’s Dual Enrollment program with support from the College Success Team.
- Set and align event calendars and programming to support broader organizational outcomes.
- Oversee systems and logistics supporting enrollment, including transportation and instructional resource distribution.
- Plan and implement workshops, lunch & learns, internships, and externships (including Work-Based Learning) aligned with scholars' goals and the College and Career Readiness program.
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive system for recruiting new Dual Enrollment (DE) scholars, evaluating factors such as attendance, behavior, academic performance, and scholar agency.
- Monitor and track scholar performance using recruitment criteria to ensure alignment with program goals.
- Analyze scholar performance on the Accuplacer assessment (or alternative entrance exams) and identify trends across various measures, including assessment results.
- Oversee and track the utilization of technology platforms such as SchooLinks, YouScience, and Blackbaud, ensuring effective use and engagement.
Management and Scholar Support
- Oversee data collection and analysis related to attendance, behavior, and academic performance for all scholars.
- Monitor post-secondary enrollment trends and collaborate with the Principal and Head of Schools to strengthen relationships with colleges and universities that support Legacy scholars.
- Manage the financial aspects of the program, including processing invoices for textbooks, tuition, and other instructional materials and resources.
- Identify opportunities to offer J-sections on campus.
- Develop and implement a system for ACT/SAT preparation and coordinate national testing opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Post-Secondary (PS) to distribute fee waivers to eligible scholars.
- Coordinate and support events such as College Application Day, Career Fair, and Parent Nights.
- Ensure consistent counseling support for students by organizing and managing regular 1:1 meetings between students and counselors.
Stakeholder Relations
- Develop and manage partnerships with colleges and other organizations to enhance the graduation rates of Legacy alumni, aiming for outcomes that surpass the national average.
- Promote and coordinate opportunities for College Success and Legacy alumni, including college visits, summer programs, job placement, scholarships, test preparation, college selection guidance, networking events, and overall well-being initiatives.
- Redesign, develop, and lead the Transition Coach Program, including providing training, orientation, and ongoing support to ensure the successful execution of learning opportunities.
- Maintain and expand a comprehensive database of coaches while actively recruiting additional coaches as needed.
- Foster communication and engagement with key stakeholders—students, parents, faculty, staff, community members, and board members—to drive collective efforts toward college completion.
- Contribute as an active member of the Leadership Team at Legacy Early College High School.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with high school students and families and/or in the college admissions field
- At least 3 years of formal managerial experience
- Knowledge of national, state, and local educational goals and objectives in alignment with college and university entrance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making; facilitate various size working groups, work collaboratively, and; gather and analyze data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Flexible and able to multi-task within an ambiguous, fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. School Links experience is desirable.

Work Schedule
This position will operate on the centralized Legacy Early College central office calendar, on the 240-day schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
