Project Engineer - Transportation Design

Legacy Engineering Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our Transportation Design team. In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of a variety of transportation projects. As a Project Engineer, you will work under the supervision of senior engineers, applying your technical knowledge and experience to enhance transportation infrastructure and improve public safety.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead the design and development of transportation PS&E projects for public and private clients which includes Roadway, Traffic Control Phasing, Retaining Walls, Drainage, Traffic Signals, Illumination, Signing & Pavement Markings, Traffic Management Systems, Storm Water Pollution Plan, Utilities, etc.

· Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation infrastructure projects.

· Conduct traffic studies, including traffic flow analysis, signal timing, and intersection design.

· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental specialists, and construction personnel, to ensure project success.

· Perform field inspections and data collection to support the design and implementation of transportation projects.

· Utilize design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and other engineering tools to create and modify project designs.

· Ensure all project designs comply with local, state, and federal standards and regulations.

· Support project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with clients and stakeholders.

· Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITIES / CREDENTIALS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.

· Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

· 4 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related field is required.

· Experience designing various types of public projects (rural, urban, etc.) with various municipalities (TxDOT, County, City, etc.) is preferred.

· Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer or similar tools is preferred.

· Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, standards, and best practices.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.
