Shipping Clerk

Role Summary: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for maintaining shipping communication and information between Sales Desk/Sales Logistic, drivers, other Admin staff, and compliance officials. Their function is to provide accurate and timely administrative transactions of inventory from Warehouse to Outside customers. Along with coordinating freight shipment traffic, preparing, and controlling all required import/export documentation. Additional job requirements include but not limited to the following… 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain consistent communication and information flow with Sales Department, Sales Logistics, truck drivers, other admin staff, and compliance officials

• Maintain professionalism with internal and external customers 

• Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude 

• Manage shipping information, organizing files for orders, compliance, inventory, etc.

• Tracks, traces, and updates the status of outgoing shipment 

• Responsible for maintaining PICIT information and Phyto requests

• Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.

• Responsible for checking in drivers and backing in trucks

• Manage and verify compliance information from the state before loads are shipped

• Need to have a high multitasking capability  

• Need to be able to maintain composure under a stressful environment

• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.

• Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them 

• Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping receiving reports to appropriate management staff

• Need to be flexible and able to work overtime and weekends

• Other duties may be assigned 

Education & Experience: 

• High school Diploma or GED, preferred

• 2 years’ experience in shipping and/or Production, Customer Service, may substitute 

• Detail-oriented and multitasking skills

• Strong Computer Skills 

• Knowledge of fruit varieties, sizes, grades and lot numbers

Equipment/Technology Skills:

• Ability to use export data software

• Ability to use Microsoft Office software

• Ability to managed inventory software and scanners

Physical Abilities:

• Ability to frequently perform various activities that require; sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pulling/pushing objects, climbing, grasp & reach

• Ability to speak clearly & communicate with others

• Must have good vision, smell and hearing

• Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, and feet accurately and handle precise movements

• Ability to frequently lift and stack 50 lb. boxes from ground level to a maximum height of 7 feet

Workplace Environmental Conditions:

• Ability to tolerate potential harsh/cold conditions for short or long periods of time

• Exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at a level sufficient to potentially cause hearing loss or fatigue

• Injury exposure to workplace hazards, warehousing machinery and forklifts

• Must endure cold temperatures 8 hours a day.
