Job Description
We are looking for a Data Analyst to support decision-making and strategic planning via the transformation of data into actionable information and leveraging technology to make information accessible. Under general direction, the Data Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks for identifying, capturing, analyzing, managing, and presenting data to answer a question or solve a problem. The Data Analyst will support the project management team with data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
This role requires the employee to be based in the San Antonio area for on-site work with the project management team.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change.
- Gathering, manipulating, and synthesizing data to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.
- Filters and cleans data, maintaining the quality of data in a spreadsheet or through a programming language to prevent wrong or skewed interpretations.
- Integrates different data sources, creating one unified, manipulable data source.
- Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Creates reports and visualization as part of data exploration and analysis.
- Prepares final analysis reports for management in written or verbal format, demonstrating data-analysis steps, enabling important decisions based on various facts and trends in past, current, and anticipated operational environments.
- Applies understanding of project vision from Project Manager; assists in coordinating efforts with a cross-functional team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science and/or Engineering, or other related discipline.
- Preferred advanced degree in a related discipline and/or formal training, certification, or work experience.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a technical field, such as data analytics or functional business experience, preferably within the healthcare industry.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in logic, SQL, data visualization, and data cleaning and preparation.
- Power query experience to extract, transform and load data from various sources, preferably into Excel and/or Power BI.
- Programming experience, preferably Visual Basic for Applications.
- Strong data manipulation and problem-solving skills.
